In 1949, our founder, we call "Pop", got out of the US Army and attended mechanics school in Bergen Tech in Hackensack, NJ. After tinkering as a mechanic, Pop found that he could buy a used car which needed mechanical work, fix it up, sell it and make a profit. He continued working out of his garage and driveway until he scrounged up enough money to purchase his first place, that he called Lacey Auto Sales back in 1957. In 1973 he changed the name from Lacey Auto Sales to Empire Auto Sales. In 1980 his son, Danny was 15 and now old enough to get his hands dirty, washing cars and changing tires, never knowing that one day, he'd become the new owner. Since 1980 Danny has worked his way from the bottom - up, doing every single thing there is to do in this business.

In 1994, Danny purchased the original store from his father, becoming the next generation to be in charge. In the summer of 1999, he purchased Empire II. This was the first time we were able to offer our customers the availability of seeing 2 car lots at the same time, as Empire II is located directly across the highway from our original store. This enables our customers the availability of stopping in to see us regardless whether traveling eastbound or westbound. Then in 2001, Empire III was purchased up in Lodi. Empire III is located 2 1/2 miles West of our other 2 stores and is run by other members of the family from Argentina, Rene and his wife Claudia.

Together we have over 150 vehicles in stock at all times and we are proud to say, that we are the oldest, independently owned dealership in Bergen County.
